CDU Showcases Tourism-Zero Project at UNESCO Learning City Academy & Forum in Chiang Mai

From 21–22 November 2025, Chengdu University (CDU), China, proudly joined the UNESCO Learning City Academy & Forum Winter Camp 2025 in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Representing CDU, Dr. Fu Jing, Project Manager of the EU-funded Erasmus+ Tourism-Zero Project, shared inspiring insights on how lifelong learning can drive sustainable urban growth and inclusive education. The Tourism-Zero Project was highlighted as a best-practice model of CDU’s curriculum, showcasing how education can empower communities to embrace sustainability and zero-waste tourism.

The Forum brought together UNESCO experts, faculty members, academics, and students from China, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam—all united to strengthen collaboration, exchange knowledge, and promote innovative solutions for sustainable cities. In this regard, Chengdu City has been a member of the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities since 2016 and received the Learning City Award in 2019. In line with the City’s objectives, policies, and practices in promoting lifelong learning, CDU remains committed to advancing this mission through curriculum innovation and building bridges across cultures and generations, ensuring that lifelong learning is not just a policy—but a lived reality.
